Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Itinero Travel uses, why it is used, how route and account data is handled, and what options users have regarding their personal information.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to the Itinero Travel mobile application and the related website available at itinero.eu.

What information may be processed

  • Account information such as name, e-mail address, language and sign-in method.
  • Route data, route points, notes, favorites, custom POIs and route sharing records created by the user.
  • Premium subscription status and validity dates.
  • Photos or PDF attachments intentionally added by the user to route points or related travel records.
  • Technical and service data required for secure sign-in, app operation and purchase verification.
  • Location data when the user explicitly grants permission and uses map, navigation or weather features.

Why the information is used

  • To create and manage the user account.
  • To enable route planning, saved places, guides, maps, navigation and weather features.
  • To display and manage Premium access, subscription renewals and purchase restoration.
  • To support route sharing initiated by the user.
  • To send essential service e-mails such as registration, password reset or route access notifications.
  • To protect the app, prevent abuse and maintain basic security and service reliability.

Location, maps and travel data

Current location is used only when the user requests map, navigation or weather features, or explicitly saves location-based data into a route or POI. Location is not automatically stored as a permanent record unless the user intentionally includes it in saved content.

Sharing and visibility

If a user shares a route with another person, the recipient can see the route information that was intentionally placed into that route, including route title, route points, notes, POIs and related attachments or comments.

Third-party services

The app may rely on third-party services that are necessary for sign-in, app distribution, subscription billing, map and travel-related functionality, or standard technical operation. These services may process limited data required for their part of the service.

Data retention and security

Data is protected within the normal scope of operating the app and website. Passwords are not stored in readable form. User data remains associated with the account until the user removes it, deletes the account or the data is no longer required for the service.

User rights and account deletion

Users can update their account data, use the app without Premium in a limited mode, or request full account removal directly in the app. Deleting the account also removes related personal data, routes, custom POIs, sharing records and associated links. Premium payments already made are not automatically refunded when an account is deleted.
